Vogue is a fashion and lifestyle magazine that is published in 18 national and one regional edition by Condé Nast Publications. Each month, Vogue publishes a magazine addressing topics of fashion, life and design.Vogue is most famous as a presenter of images of high fashion and high society,but it also publishes writings on art, culture, politics, and ideas. It has also helped to enshrine the fashion model as celebrity.
Vogue was founded as a weekly publication by Arthur Baldwin Turnure in 1892. When he died in 1909, Condé Nast picked it up and slowly began growing the publication. The first change Nast made was that Vogue appeared every two weeks instead of weekly. Nast also went overseas in the early 1910s. He first went to Britain, and started a Vogue there, and it went well. Then he went to Spain, however that was a failure. Lastly, Nast took Vogue to France, and that was a huge success. The magazine’s number of publications and profit increased dramatically under Nast. The magazine’s number of subscriptions surged during the Depression, and again during World War II. In the 1960s, with Diana Vreeland as editor-in-chief and personality, the magazine began to appeal to the youth of the sexual revolution by focusing more on contemporary fashion and editorial features openly discussing sexuality.
Vogue has also created a global initiative, “Fashion’s Night Out” in order to help boost the economy by bringing together fashionistas to support the cause of full price retails. Cities across the globe participate to put on fabulous in store events and promotions.

Elle is a worldwide magazine that focuses on women’s fashion, beauty, health, and entertainment. Elle is also the world’s largest fashion magazine. It was founded by Pierre Lazareff and his wife Hélène Gordon in 1945. The title, in French, means “she”. Robbie Myers is the editor and chief.
It is now the world’s largest fashion magazine, with 39 international editions in over 60 countries.Technologically speaking, the Elle brand is a global network encompassing over 20 websites. Elle readers have a median age of 34.7 years. Subscriptions account for 73 percent of readers. With the remaining 27 percent purchasing single issues, Elle is the only fashion magazine to have increased its newsstand sales in the past five years, most notably with an 18 percent increase in the first half of 2006. There are 27 Elle websites globally, which collectively attract over 1 million visitors and 26 million page views per month Elle reaches over 4.8 million readers. The vast majority (82 percent) of Elle’s audience are women between the ages of 18 and 49. Forty percent of readers are single, and the median household income is $69,973 “Our readers are young enough to think about life as an adventure and old enough to have the means to live it,” said Robbie Myers, editor in chief.

Allure is a women’s beauty magazine. It was founded in 1991 by Linda Wells, and Wells remains the magazine’s editor in chief. The magazine has different features, all based on the subject of beauty. A signature of the magazine is its annual Best of Beauty awards, editors’ picks for their favorite hair, skin-care, and makeup products. Allure celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2006. Allure is published monthly by Condé Nast Publications in New York City. A South Korean edition has been published since 2003 by Doosan Magazine.

InStyle

InStyle is a monthly women’s fashion magazine, published in the United States by Time Inc. and in the UK by IPC Media. Along with advertising, the magazine offers articles about beauty, fashion, home, entertaining, charitable endeavors, and celebrity lifestyles. Launched in 1994, InStyle currently has a circulation of 1.7 million. Its editor is Ariel Foxman.
InStyle also runs a companion web site, updated daily InStyle.com, offering content similar to that of the magazine along with interactive advertising features such as Product Finder, editor-written blogs, and web-only coverage of celebrity parties and events.
InStyle hosted a party at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival with celebrities such as Ryan Phillippe, Camiella Belle, and Ryan Renolds attending.

Founded in 1939 in the United States, it was originally called Glamour of Hollywood.Local editions are now published in numerous countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, Greece, Poland, South Africa, Hungary, Romania, the Netherlands, Mexico as well as a Latin American edition, and soon to be launched in Australia. In most cases it is a monthly publication.
It targets women 18-49 and reaches a subscription audience of 1,411,061 readers in the United States. Its circulation on news stands is 986,447, making the total average paid circulation: 2,397,508.Since 1980, the magazine has held an annual “Women of the Year” awards ceremony.On April 2009, Glamour launched its first Google widget. iGoogle, which allows users to create a custom version of the Google home page with select regions of content, or “gadgets,” will begin hosting a gadget for Glamour.com. The Glamour.com gadget potentially opens the site to an audience of iGoogle users.

W Magazine

W is a monthly American fashion magazine published by Condé Nast Publications, who purchased original owner Fairchild Publications in 1999. It was created in 1971 by the publisher of sister magazine Woman’s Wear Daily, James Brady. The magazine is an oversize format – ten inches wide and thirteen inches tall. Stefano Tonchi is the editor of W; Nina Lawrence is the vice president and publisher. W magazine has a reader base of nearly half a million, 469,000 of which are annual subscribers. 80 percent of the magazine’s readers are female and have an average household income of $135,840.
Often the subject of controversy, W magazine has featured stories and covers which have provoked mixed responses from its intended audience. In July 2005, W produced a 60-page Steven Klein portfolio of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt entitled “Domestic Bliss”.The shoot was based upon Pitt’s idea of the irony of the perfect American family; set in 1963, the photographs mirror the era when 1960s disillusionment was boiling under the facade of pristine 1950s suburbia.
W is also known for its coverage of American and European society. Many of these society luminaries, as well as the elite of the entertainment and fashion industries, have allowed W into their homes for the magazine’s W House Tours feature, including Marc Jacobs, Sir Evelyn Rothschild and Imelda Marcos.

The reality series, Running In Heels, follows three interns working in the NYC office of the magazine.
The goal of Marie Claire is to provide readers with a substantial amount of information about new looks as well as current issues that women around the world face. Moreover, it also adds relationship information, along with a section dedicated to answering specific questions from readers. It provides information pertaining to various items of clothing and accessories, as well as which would be a better deal.

The Cosmopolitan Magazine was launched by the publisher Schlicht & Field Company in 1886 as a family journal of fashion, household decor, cooking, and other domestic interests. Two years later Schlicht & Field’s bankruptcy forced it to sell the magazine to Joseph Newton Hallock, who introduced book reviews and serialized fiction to its pages. John Brisben Walker took over the publication in 1889, expanding its circulation from 20,000 to 400,000.

Esquire is a magazine, published in the U.S. by the Hearst Corporation. Founded in 1932, it flourished during the Great Depression under the guidance of founder and editor Arnold Gingrich.Esquire appeared, for the first time, in October 1933. Founded and edited by David A. Smart and Arnold Gingrich.
It later transformed itself into a more refined periodical with an emphasis on men’s fashion and contributions by Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the 1940s, the popularity of the Petty Girls and Vargas Girls provided a circulation boost. In the 1960s, Esquire helped pioneer the trend of New Journalism by publishing such writers as Norman Mailer, Tim O’Brien, John Sack, Gay Talese, Tom Wolfe and Terry Southern. Under Harold Hayes, who ran it from 1961 to 1973, it became as distinctive as its oversized pages. The magazine shrank to the conventional 8½x11 inches in 1971. The magazine was sold by the original owners to Clay Felker in 1977, who sold it to the 13-30 Corporation, a Tennessee publisher, two years later. 13-30 split up in 1986, and Esquire was sold to Hearst at the end of the year.
The annual feature Sexiest Woman Alive designation by the magazine is billed as a benchmark of female attractiveness.

Teen Vogue magazine began as a version of Vogue magazine for a younger audience. This US magazine focuses on fashion and celebrities and offers information about the latest entertainment and feature stories on current issues and events.
The magazine follows the basic tenets of teen magazines, although with a more glossy view which fits with the template of the Vogue style. The magazine also features more serious topics such as discussions about teen pregnancy.
Once a year Teen Vogue hosts a party for their Young Hollywood issue in the fall. The Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party is often a heavily attended event in Los Angeles society.
