Mad Men sizzles as Don Draper merges agencies with their rival... and Peggy Olson steals a kiss from her new boss
They say sex sells. So when the rival advertising agencies decided to join forces on Mad Men on Sunday night, they were surely onto a winner.
After last week’s historic episode, which dealt with the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the acclaimed series went back to its basic animal instincts for a sex-fuelled show.
Roger Sterling -- played by John Slattery -- set pulses racing from the word go, as blonde bombshell air hostess Daisy crawled out of his bed and flaunted her curves in lacy lingerie.
Strange bedfellows: Don Draper and his big competitor Ted Chaough make a deal to merge their rival companies -- one of the many illicit relationships on Sunday's episode of Mad Men
She's not the only one shocked: Peggy Olsen (Elisabeth Moss) was taken aback by the merger
Don Draper (Jon Hamm), meanwhile, left viewers open-mouthed as he peeled off his wife’s underwear in a steamy bedroom scene, with his mother-in-law in the room next door.
But the most shocking tryst in AMC’s hit series came as Sterling Cooper Draper Price merged with Cutler, Gleason and Chaough while vying for the business of Chevrolet and their top secret new car – the Corvette Stingray.
Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) was open-mouthed as Ted Chaough (Kevin Rahm) invited her old boss Don into the office to reveal the news.
Together again: The decision means Don and Peggy will be partners once more

‘Just for Chevy?’ she tentatively asked as the men said they would be working together.
‘No, we merged. Furniture, fixtures, everything,’ Don said.
The steamy episode started with Pete Campbell, Bert Cooper and Joan Harris meeting with a New York financier in a bid to take SCDP public – a meeting kept secret from partners Don and Roger.
Pete gloated after the valuation that Joan’s share’s alone would ‘make her a millionaire.’

Sealing the deal: Back at the office, partners Pete, Joan and Bert start planning an option for the company to go public
Millions: The four partners could stand to make a huge fortune if they sell stock in the company
Behind closed doors, however, Pete was less than satisfied as he tried in vain to make amends with his wife Trudy and she refused his advances.
Things were also awry in the Draper household as Megan’s mother offered her some X-rated advice on how to keep her straying husband close.
‘Don’t dress like his wife,’ she said, as the pair prepared to attend a business dinner with Don and his partners.
‘The only thought he should have at this meal is how quickly he can get between your legs.’
Spicing things up: Megan makes an attempt to add fire to her relationship with Don
Dinner date: The couple grab a meal with Jaguar account manager Herb
In town: Megan's mother Marie joined in on the affair
At dinner, Don destroyed SCDP’s hard-fought Jaguar account in style and spilled his real feelings for Herb Rennet and his intolerable wife.
But he was having better luck in the bedroom and steamily began undressing Megan.
The next morning at SCDP Pete was furious about the Jaguar disaster.
It's over: After a disastrous meal, Don ends the contract with Jaguar
Poorly received: Pete blows up at the news that Don cut their high-end client
Flustered fall: In his fury, Pete falls down the stairs
Standing his ground: Don refused to see any error in dumping Jaguar
Falling down the stairs, he screamed at Don: ‘You have to understand that it is over, we had a public offering under way and it is ruined!’
But his tirade was cut short following Roger Sterling’s exploits with Daisy in Detroit.
‘We’re giving a presentation to Chevy this Friday on their top secret new car,’ Roger waltzes in and tells Pete.
‘And I have cheque for $10,000 because I close, Pete -- I close things.’
All her hard work: The news was especially tough for Joan, who had slept with Herb to get the account
What's the fuss: Employees at Sterling Cooper Draper Price rush from their offices to witness the brawl
Better off: Don announced that the team was stronger without the weight of Jaguar
Joan, who had bedded Herb for the Jaguar account and her place as a partner at the SCDP table, was still not impressed.
‘Don’t you feel 300lbs lighter?’ Don asked her.
‘I don’t,’ she tearfully replied. ‘Honestly Don, if I could deal with him you could deal with him. I went though all of that for nothing?’
'Don't you feel lighter?' Joan was offended by Don's otherwise chivalrous move
Not impressed: 'I went though all of that for nothing?¿ Joan asked of her tryst with Herb
A step up: The flare up could mean a better deal for the team, as Roger announced they'll be meeting with Chevy
Brightside: 'I close things, Pete,' Roger gloated
Pete also dealt with moral issues of his own.
As he celebrated the prospect of SCDP going public he visited an up town brothel – awkwardly bumping into father-in-law Tom Vogel.
Pete’s friend and colleague Ken Cosgrove reassured him the situation was ‘mutually assured destruction’ and advised him to do nothing.
Getting comfortable: Peggy has grown in her new role at Cutler, Gleason and Chaough
Appreciation: Boss Ted tells her that she's an invaluable asset
Heat of the moment: The two share a passionate kiss in Ted's office
Game changer: This isn't the first office romance for Peggy, who once had a tryst with Pete
But when his father-in-law pulled all his business from the firm, Pete spilled everything to his estranged wife. Moments later she kicked him out of the house.
Things were also complicated for Peggy as she locked lips with Ted Chaough.
And as she sat on her bed with boyfriend Abe Drexler that night, it was Ted’s face she pictured.
Distracted: Peggy tries to forget her earlier kiss with Ted as she arrives home to boyfriend Abe
Lost in thought: She imagines she's still in the throes of passion with her boss
Wishful thinking: The fantasy could prove problematic for the couple, who just moved in together
The most forbidden relationship came at the end of the episode with a chance meeting for Don which looks set to change the series forever.
After bumping into rival Ted at a Detroit bar, he came up with the idea of merging their firms.
‘Both of us have the creative but neither of us have an agency to do that,’ Don said.
Growing fame: Megan worries if her fame is ruining her relationship
Advice: 'Don't dress like his wife,' her mother told her
Reignited: The couple share a few steamy scenes
Happy couple: Things seem to be working out in the Draper household
‘Why would I do that?’ a hesitant Ted asked.
‘Because we’re dead,’ Don said.
As the pair announced the merger to Peggy back at the CGC office, she asked: ‘Are we moving?’
‘We are,’ Ted said. ‘And I want you to write the press release.’
Back in the game: Roger has also taken up a new love affair with air hostess Daisy
Complicated: While he courts Daisy, old flame Marie is in town awaiting his call
Burned: Marie is left alone as her daughter and Roger enjoy more fruitful relations
