Muscat Fashion Week to begin from Jan 15 2013
MUSCAT Three Omani designers, out of the total of 12, 28 international models and 10 countries are all set to participate in the third annual Muscat Fashion Week from January 15 to 17 at Riyam Park.
The three-day event will feature four designers on each day with their collections to a select and exclusive audience, international media, prominent fashion buyers and VIP guests. This year’s show will see the participation of three more countries — Qatar, Tunisia and Jordan — and four more international models. The whole event is being managed by Ann Hertha and Anette Kjaergaard of ‘Fashion Exclusives’, an event management company of Copenhagen, Denmark. Fashion Exclusives has been conducting theMuscat Fashion Week for the past three years.
Making this announcement at a press conference on Saturday, HE Sultan Bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, said: “Dedicated to showcasing the best Omani and regional design talent, the Muscat Fashion Week will play host to a medley of established names and newly discovered faces of the future.”
Speaking about the highlights of the event, Malik Al Hinai, director of the Bait Al Baranda Museum, said: “Every day during the course of the fashion week, garments displayed at the evening fashion show would be put up for sale the following day at the Opera Galleria, within the premises of the Royal Opera House, Muscat.”
This year’s line up sees Omani favourites Nawal Al Hooti and Dibaj return once again, having unveiled impressive collections in February 2012.
