Top 10 Richest Women in 2013
Every year, Forbes is bringing out its list of the richest people in the planet. While many have known more of the richest men from all over the world, it’s just about time to know a different breed of financial moguls that come from the side of Venus. Just like men, women also have skills and the expertise in running their very own business, thanks to their different kind of charisma and intellect. Just who are these ladies and how wealthy they are? Without further adieu, here are the top 10 richest women in 2013 as taken from Forbes.
10. Anne Cox Chambers

The 93-year old heiress of Cox Enterprises holds an estimated net worth of $12 billion, a bit lower than what she was rated for back in September 2010 for $12.4 billion. She has been managing the multi communication company for over 33 years where industries of newspaper, television, cable, and others are being catered for the American audience. Despite being rich, she is known for supporting various educational and cultural charities, particularly museums and institutions of art.
9. Miuccia Prada

When you hear the brand name “Prada”, the first thing that comes to mind is the chic and exquisite touch of women’s footwear coming from Italy, along with other accessories and items that are known to provide a sophisticated hint among the ladies. Miuccia Prada, just like Anne Cox Chambers, is also the successor of a company that has been turned over to her from her grandfather, Mario Prada. But what makes this granddaughter different is that she personally designed and created clothes that made this company a staple in Milan’s fashion week. Her net worth is now estimated at $12.4 billion.
8. Abigail Johnson

Abigail Johnson, president of Fidelity Investments Personal and Workplace Investing, used to work as a consultant for Booz Allen & Hamilton in order to test her expertise in Business Administration, as she worked out her MBA. However, after being an equity manager for her father’s company from 1988 to 1997, she was promoted to lead Fidelity Management and Research, which made it possible for her to be given various positions within the company. Her net worth for 2013 is at $12.7 billion, a lot higher than 2012’s estimated $10.3 billion.
7. Susanne Klatten

Known to be the richest woman in Germany, Susanne Klatten has achieved her net worth of $14.3 billion for holding shares of pharmaceutical company, Altana, and the famous BMW car brand. She has became a successful investor for both companies as she was inherited company shares from her father, who owned 50.1% of Altana and 12.5% of BMW. She took care of making Altana a famous global corporation and she also took the helm of supervising BMW’s business affairs, together with her brother, Stefan Quandt.
6. Jacqueline Mars

Jacqueline Mars does not own shares of NASA nor was she responsible for funding exploration efforts in Earth’s sister planet. However, her net worth of over $17 billion was because of her inheritance with Mars Incorporated, one of the famous American candy companies. Even though her course in anthropology back in college had nothing to do with the selling of noted brands such as 3 Musketeers, Maltesers, M&M’s, Mars, and Milky Way, she was still being blessed by the said business anyway.
5. Georgina Rinehart

Georgina Rinehart is the daughter of the late Lang Hancock, owner of the mining company, Hancock Prospecting. Although she had been inherited of such a great company, it did not stop her from acquiring more wealth by using her money to buy the highest shares in Fairfax Media and Ten Network Holdings. Back in 2011, Rinehart has even taken the title of being Australia’s wealthiest person. It is rather surprising that her personal net worth of $17 billion was a drop from last year’s $18 billion.
4. Iris Fontbona

It is rather ironic that Christy Walton, even though she was the wife of one of Sam Walton’s sons, is now richer than her sister-in-law who runs and oversees the affairs and activities of many Wal-Mart stores all over the United States. She may have inherited over $15.7 billion from her late husband, but thanks to the combined shares of Wal-Mart, and even First Solar, Christy’s net worth has climbed over to $28.2 billion.
